The ROC will assist Burkina Faso with national industry development through the provision of vocational training programs and technical personnel, according to Premier Wu Den-yih Dec. 21.

“We will dispatch professionals in related fields to help our African diplomatic ally cultivate its skilled labor resources,” Wu said at the opening ceremony for a vocational training center built with ROC assistance.

“This facility is set to play an important role in providing the human resources necessary for carrying out industrial development plans,” Wu said.

During the ceremony, the premier presented Tertius Zongo, prime minister of Burkina Faso, with Order of Brilliant Star with Special Grand Cordon. Zongo reciprocated by awarding Wu the Grand Officer of the National Order.

“This gesture is the highest honor and symbolizes my deep commitment to enhancing bilateral relations,” Wu said.

Following the ceremony, Wu and Zongo exchanged views on existing cooperative projects between the two nations.

“These projects cover areas such as agriculture, environmental protection, public sanitation, solar technology and vocational training,” Zongo said. “They are all of the greatest significance to our country.”

Wu said the ROC is willing to share its economic expertise and looks forward to both sides pursuing opportunities in the photovoltaic industry.

Wu is leading an 18-member ROC delegation on a weeklong visit to the West African nation. The group is scheduled to return to Taiwan Dec. 25. (JSM)
